Office Politics - Radio 4

Woman's Hour on Friday 3rd June featured a piece on Office Politics. Thanks to our our partnership with ICAEW on their Women In Leadership (WIL) programme, Moira was used as a background expert for the researchers to the programme. Sharron Gunn of the ICAEW was interviewed together with Guy Browning, a journalist who has written a humourous book on Office Politics. Sharron was able to get good press cover for the WIL programme, pointing out that supporting women to tackle office politics on their own terms was a core part of the WIL programme.
ICAEW are very likely to be running this programme again next year and we fully expect to be involved. If you are a finance professional or you know of one who would like to hear more about it, let us know and we will connect you to the right people in the Institute.

We are facing unprecedented chaotic and unpredictable change in our physical and economic environment. How are we to find our way to creating the futures we want for ourselves, and our businesses in this time of transition?

At Consulting Women we believe that we begin by finding out more about the situation we are in and the skills and talents that we have available – in ourselves and in those around us. Uncovering and strengthening these innate talents can free people to take the risk of leading and contributing wholeheartedly in the creation of organisations to meet the challenge of the future.

As we move forward the talents that businesses will need to draw upon will be increasingly diverse. Excellence in management with a strong focus on profit and the maintenance of competitive advantage will remain critical, while other strengths such as courage, adaptability, sensing how situations will evolve, recognising and building upon a deep sense of connectedness between seemingly disparate elements in say, a supply chain, are of increasing importance. Often people take these strengths for granted – both in themselves and others. These strengths are somehow just aspects of ‘who we are’. Through our groups we discover them, get to know them and how to bring them to the world in ways that take our businesses and ourselves to the next level of success.

How women can contribute more to the economy
